Coalition Launches Campaign To Save Our Safety Net

The Coalition for Community Investment has launched a campaign, complete with website, to save the District’s safety net from the sweeping cuts Mayor Fenty has proposed.

Stepping up to the plate, as usual, the DC Fiscal Policy Institute has produced an overview of these cuts, along with analyses of how some of them would impact low-income D.C. residents and our community as a whole.

If the Mayor’s proposals concern you, there’s a quick and easy thing you can do. Just add your name and a personal message to the petition on the home page of the new website.

Or contact the City Councilmembers who represent you. Their e-mail addresses and phone numbers are in the Council directory.

The Council will complete its revisions to the Mayor’s proposed budget within the next several days. So time is of the essence here.
